POEM: "Distance"

Here we are far from each other
cut from each other
by land and the deep blue sea
and at my back I can hear
a contender lure you from my hand -
that's my fear yesterday and another
but I trust your true honor and virtue
shall always be steady and fresh as the dew.

Dear had we enough time and less distance
I would love you long before the world began
and upon your beauty I shall continue to gaze
until the world be done
even then I shall not alter my stance,
reminded of your youthful hue and face.
This I hold with a fist and shall always praise.
Know my love for you is without an iota stain
but distance can kill with a lot of pain.

Gaveston, refuse my contender's plea,
as Joseph take to your heels and flee
else your past-fate you shall relive in awhile
as this is my fear that I
should lose you in Gaveston's style
and my pain should be more than losing an eye.
but we must not give up still
whilst we pleasure ourselves with kisses from our letters
we send to each other no matter the weather.
Hold up but for awhile
because I come for you in due time,
We will tear our passions in a rough ride
and roll our lips together as strong as the tide.
Indeed distance can kill
but we must remain still
