The Cake Fair was BOOM!!

Boom, massive and nothing short of heaven!

A few buzzing attributes which characterized Ghana's first cake experience - during and after the event.

'The Cake Fair' event -- which happened on Saturday July 30, this year at the Fiesta Royale Hotel was record breaking, exceptionally impressive and delightfully buoyant.

It brought some major parts of Ghana's capital city, Accra, to a halt due to the 'bamba-to-bamba' traffic caused by the influx of people who were not going to miss the opportunity to satisfy their taste buds.

Twenty five vendors including cake bakers, cake accessories and equipment suppliers, juice makers -- over 1,500 cake fair attendees participated.

If you anticipated less -- your craze and crave for everything cake is probably not eminent.

It shattered any glass ceiling in Ghana's sugar craft and cake industry -- especially for the vendors who were mostly women and also for the organizers.

The Cake Fair -- which started as scheduled had TV and radio presenter at GHOne TV, AJ Sarpong, as host  -- who's striking beauty and infectious dimpled smiles was a "a•muse-bouche". It lasted through out the event --brightening enough to make the short power cut at the tail of the event go almost unnoticed.

An opening prayer kick start the event followed by speeches delivered by the CEOs of Yellow October Events Gloria Kekeli Hogba and VoiceAds, Kati G -- the principal organizers of the cake fair.

TV and radio presenter and the Guest of Honor to the cake fair, Anita Erskine-Amaizo gracefully welcome vendors and attendees -- her charming presence graced the event -- leaving participants in awe for the big moments with her splendid speech delivery.

A cake-cutting ceremony officially opened the cake fair -- paving way for the 'cake-together to begin - vendors could now showcase their beautiful cake designs and supplies - attendees could begin to sample cakes and drinks for free, buy, network and meet some of their favorite TV and radio personalities.

The huge grandeur of this cake experience wowed even the-not-so 'trigger-cake-happy' person. And had cake lovers eat all their hearts out -- but that is just a tip of the cake fair.

From the perfect location, flawless decor, A-class reception, music, live deejay disk jockeying, live music performances, different cake designs and cake types display -- to free cake sample tasting and free give aways including dinner for two plus a weekend stay and dinner for two at the Fiesta Royale --you could "eat your cake" and still have it. Literally!

But what makes Ghana's first cake fair experience HISTORIC, aside the numbers it pulled, is the endorsements it received from A-list radio and TV broadcasters and presenters including ace broadcaster, CEO of the EIB Network and Empire Entertainment, Nathan Kwbena Adisi aka Bola Ray and Ghana's TV "goddess" Nana Aba Anamoah [and others] prior to the event -- it would be remarkably unforgettable!

For most families the cake fair provided a refreshing space -- away from the usual visits to malls and movie centers -- a participant described it as "strikingly bonding".

Award-winning singer, Adoma also performed with live-band music group, 'Calabash' -- with support from Kati G music. DJ Isaac of Live FM also helped to further intoxicate participants with not just cakes but also refined tunes.

Don't be don't you missed it, if you did -- it was hugely successful!

And oh, the CEO Bola Ray, proved his relish for cakes -- his presence gave the event another grand celebrity touch.

Ghana's first cake fair experience promises to be an annual event with far more extravagant and lavish different cake designs and styles display -- don't be left out!

Sex, Love-life and Future of Live FMs New Programs Manager.

All you singles and radio lovers sit.

Let me give you a taste of my own "lemonade".

Yeah, get popcorn, wax your long-itching ears for the latest gossip in our world of entertainment. Because this couldn't get more personal.

But, but, but, this is no gossip, lol

Arguably Ghana's most eligible on-air radio bachelor, inflexible but humble with striking looks, Antoine Mensah, is a complete package-- with the real 'MAN' package.

He is undoubtedly a real definition of being young and talented.

"Radio was something I chanced on. But connecting the dots now it makes sense. I was actually into music but I stopped...[that is how it all started]", he tells me.

28 years? And at the peak of one's career is laudable.

Regardless, the new Programs Manager of Live 91.9 FM, reveals it has been an enormous challenge combining his love life and work as presenter and producer.

"It was a big challenge finding time and finding someone to understand the industry that am in."

Yeah, you heard right, "was"-- he reluctantly affirms his previous relationship with a female Ghanaian, who's name he remained adamant to reveal lasted "long". And was not short to bring to bear his six years radio experience-- providing dribbling, near-thundering and a surprisingly "No" answer. After I quizzed whether or not he's in an amorous relationship?

The affable presenter who 'appears' single couldn't get more lovable with his calming, yet authoritative voice-- even better hearing him speak French would leave you mesmerized: "there's always something irresistible about a French man saying your name in this most beautiful accent".

Antoine typifies that!

But who is Antoine Mensah: from a family of six, including mom, dad and three brothers, he "spent [his] early years traveling". Visiting Niger, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Lesotho and the Democratic Republic of the Congo due to the nature of his father's job.

It is in these Francophone countries that he credits his French speaking ability.

He left the U.S. state of Connecticut  to Ghana in 2001.

His first radio experience was at Choice FM as host of the Drive Time. And later took on a "once-a-week" show for Vibe FM [233 Live show] as the principal host for two years before Vibe re-branded to Live FM.

Pause!

Let me not bore you radio lovers with my long thesis of where he's worked. We've all heard and read that, before. Lol.

Antone who officially took over as the Programs Manager on August 1, still intends to bewitch you with his awakening alto voice.

The Livestyle Cafe and ENTLive host does not plan to break the hearts of his huge following. He reiterated "radio is [his] number one passion-- giving back to so many people in the different way that I can. I think being a programs manager only amplifies what I can do on air",

And hey, if you are a young talent or a like-minded, you are urged "not to rush-- what ever you are going through that is probably making things longer than you feel they should don't lose focus".

Oops, my door bell just rang-- sorry, I must check who this person could be.

And oh, I have to refill my glass of lemonade.

Here we go again; the rants of a vile male chauvinist
who dares talk down womanhood
only to give evidence he's a male supremacist--
your misogynistic-self cast doubt on your manhood.
Unfortunately your "Rambo" needs are entrenched by this patriarchal society
with your lots who far too often are
silent or scared to jab your frivolous insanity.


You sick bully!
Your shenanigans are but vastly folly
and I suggest you get a grip of your self, you're almost an island--
even your puppets with a finger
or two in your mouth would rather take a chance and risk a bite than stand
with a man with everything but wit.
Sadly you clones who are everything misfit
with such horrid auric
are the ones who continue to spew toxic
into bright futures far better than yours--


Too bad somewhere today a girl or woman
with a hard earned position faces sexist remarks

worse, from a fellow girl or woman.
So while we all are at it, people of courage and will 

must take chances, starting from our homes and schools 

were much of these are deeply rooted --
deal with this rooted cancer with all the needed tools
else we risk darker times than this.
Beyond the rhetoric we must take action
not forgetting our failure to act is but an action.


So, 'honorable',
you have failed the many men and  women who think you are adorable
who likewise want to be called honorable--
your likes are not found in today's well stationed societies--
far lost in those long gone primitive centuries.

'Dumsor' song not meant to criticize the NDC party.

Composer, violinist and director of the Witsharmonic choir, Witsfield Kwablah, composed the song "Dumsor"- which went viral on WhatsApp last Friday.  

'Dumsor' was launched on March 7, this year and  has since Friday this year, July 22, received air-play on major radio programs including the Super Morning show on Joy FM and the Citi Breakfast show on Citi FM.

The song does not just highlight the many challenges Ghanaians were forced to endure due to the erratic power cuts-- it has without a doubt proved that even in the face of darkness extraordinary talents can still shine. 

The 24-year old Teaching Assistant at the University of Cape Coast tells us the song was first recorded on March 7, during the Cape Coast edition of his choir’s annual 'Republic Concert' this year.

Contrary to popular opinion he says the song is not meant to jab the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to resolve the power crisis.

A spirited singer himself, he reiterates that the Witsharmonic concert-- to be held yearly will feature songs that promote peace and address issues of national concern.

And just when one thought It couldn't get more interesting than it already is, his magically pieced songs 'Kokonsani', “Noko ye jen” [and others] would leave you brain-active and mesmerized.

"The River of Life"

As we live and die at the same time in the clocks bosom;
my experiences have transmuted to pearls of wisdom.
Sit with me here, near the river of life,
and see its futile reflections as seeds blossom, wither and perish.

Once I had shiny cheeks and pointed nipples I used to cherish.
See ,they are antiqued, flaccid with wrinkled faces.
Even my flatulence no longer adds its usual fragrances.
My teeth fall off and eating comes with its own challenges.
Don't worry my child, have no worries only wait and see, but live with pride as you age;
And never forget to smile with a happy face.
