President Mahama: “Ahwene pa nkasa”

Someone please “invite [President Mahama] to stop whining” or quit pulling the Trump-card. May be both.

Ghana's President Mahama

And also remind him “Ahwene pa nkasa” [good beads do not talk/market themselves]: that the “good performance” of his government would certainly get noticed by the good people of Ghana if they deserve to be acknowledged.

African beads

He has on most campaign platforms criticized opposition parties particularly the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for belittling his government’s achievements.

And the media has not been spared from what is often his propaganda denunciations on campaign platforms.

President John Mahama on Tuesday October 18 suggested the media has been bias towards his government citing unnamed “certain group [that] has taken control of the media” who either stretch the truth or repel information of the better Ghana agenda from reaching the masses.

“We have taken access to water from 58 percent in 2008 to 78 percent today. Small town water systems, boreholes all across this country have been constructed. We have eradicated guinea worm”, he said in an exclusive interview with Ovation International Flagstaff Magazine at the House in Accra.

And says his government's achievements are not reaching Ghanaians because some persons in the media are sieving them out insisting if the media would be balance and objective in their reportage it would be the reverse.

"His [Akufo-Addo] thinking of Kasoa Interchange is that it is just a bridge. Kasoa Interchange is made up of three bridges. There is a main interchange and then two bridges to enable the people of East Kasoa and West Kasoa cross to the other halves of the city”, myjoyonline.com reported the president as saying.

For a sitting president to cry foul – “I can’t think far”: it is beyond tasteless.

If President John Mahama sees himself at the losing end after the December 7 General Elections the media would be the last to blame. Perhaps never.

Because the country’s media have among other things failed to provide editorial opinions on the presidential candidates and their so-called achievements to propel its agenda setting role: the media has the responsibility to make a clear case base on facts as to which presidential candidate is best to be the country's commander-in-chief.

For now - the president has ample time to get his achievements and campaign messages to the people. May be.

He should spare our ears the failures of his cocky surrogates and communicators.

'Dumsor' song not meant to criticize the NDC party.

Composer, violinist and director of the Witsharmonic choir, Witsfield Kwablah, composed the song "Dumsor"- which went viral on WhatsApp last Friday.

'Dumsor' was launched on March 7, this year and  has since Friday this year, July 22, received air-play on major radio programs including the Super Morning show on Joy FM and the Citi Breakfast show on Citi FM.

The song does not just highlight the many challenges Ghanaians were forced to endure due to the erratic power cuts-- it has without a doubt proved that even in the face of darkness extraordinary talents can still shine.

The 24-year old Teaching Assistant at the University of Cape Coast tells us the song was first recorded on March 7, during the Cape Coast edition of his choir’s annual 'Republic Concert' this year.

Contrary to popular opinion he says the song is not meant to jab the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to resolve the power crisis.

A spirited singer himself, he reiterates that the Witsharmonic concert-- to be held yearly will feature songs that promote peace and address issues of national concern.

And just when one thought It couldn't get more interesting than it already is, his magically pieced songs 'Kokonsani'“Noko ye jen” [and others] would leave you brain-active and mesmerized.

Oye Lithur Express Affection For Shatta Wale.

Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Nana Oye Lithur.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, Tuesday [today] reiterated her unwavering affection for Ghanaian producer and reggae-dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr aka Shatta Wale.

"[Kaikai is] creative, energetic and infectious...I like Shatta Wale", she intimately expressed and sounded almost passionate during an interview on Tuesday at Accra-based Citi FM with Bernard Avle.

This follows criticisms from some Ghanaians after she choreographed to Shatta Wale's hit song ‘Kaikai’ at her 50th birthday bash.

Nana Oye Lithur relished her good-old-days as an ex-hockey player at the University of Ghana, Legon,  but rather expressed disappointment about why people criticized her performance. “I am disappointed that people were [disappointed]”, she decried.

The former human rights advocate organized a plush party to celebrate her 50th birthday at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra earlier this year.

She was seen in what appeared to be a glittering gold spaghetti jumpsuit and backed by two dancers, lip-synched and performed to Shatta Wale’s addictive hit song 'Kaikai'.

POEM" “Stereotypes”

Stereotypes...

My nerves
get shivers
at the sight of a crowed.
As the cloud
it weighs heavy
leaving me rigid, unsteady
and sometimes anxious.
It can be tedious.

I've had high days
and low moments.
The cheers
and the jeers
accompanied by boos
And wows.
Not forgetting the standing ovations.
So listen and applaud
and laud.

This is a presentation.
“The single story creates stereotypes,
and the problem with stereotypes
is not that they are untrue,
but that they are incomplete.
They make one story
become the only story.”
That all whites are racist
and all blacks are violent.
That all slaves were black
and every part of hell is dark
That the devil is black
and God is white.
That all Muslims are terrorists
and all men are misogynists
That every nation in Africa is poor
and ravaged by war.
That all lawyers
are liars.
That all pastors
and politicians are thieves.
That all women are weak
and must be meek.
That all Tom-girls
and sissy boys
are gays
and doomed are their ways.
That all physically challenged
persons are incapacitated
These single stories
leaves a person in the ...
They appear lost.
Worst,
single stories
deplete the truth
and you are a living proof.
“The single story creates stereotypes,
and the problem with stereotypes
is not that they are untrue,
but that they are incomplete...”

This should help, perhaps.
That not all whites are racist
and not all blacks are violent.
Not all Muslims are terrorists
and not all men are mesogynist
That not all slaves were black
and not every part of hell is dark
That God is not white
and the devil is not black.
That not every nation in Africa is poor
or ravage by war.
That not all Tom-girls
or sese boys are gays.
That not all physically challenged
persons are incapacitated.
These are social frames
that must be dismantled.
You need information, perhaps.
