Truth or Fallacy: A student at the Mercy of a Lecturer.

Is it the case that there's no smoke without fire - or people choose to see their own smoke where there's no fire?

One wonders why most of these student-victims become reluctant to report to the relevant authorities: lecturers who failed them in their papers because they refused to play ball to their sexual advances.

Back at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, students who failed a subject or more did not spare our ears of their own experience and the 'nuisance' of campus rumors: lecturer-student sexual harassment was always one of the many reasons for their examination karma.

It cannot be rumors or allegations - then again "who-born-dog" should a student dare to agitate the entrenched mafia-like-caucus of lecturers who intimidate students of failing them if they don't heed to their sexual advances.

The fear of being further victimized by these ‘godless’ lecturers and other fellow lecturers often deters many of these students.

May be.

But all of these remain rumors and allegations at best. 

None proven.

We sought to find out.

Our journey for substance beyond the rumors would take us to the University of Ghana, Legon.
Many of the students we encountered appeared to hold onto these rumors – some with their own untold experiences.

"It’s very hard to pass your exam without bribing a lecturer. You either pay money or offer sex, one female student tells us.

They are the most victimized - most of the students we quizzed seemed to agree.
Yet, "this is a sad reality", another student tells us.

Some lecturers are ready to jeopardize the future of their students if they dare challenge the orthodox. Worse, report these senseless acts.

"I used to go to class with the girl all the time and when we close we go together.
